Most private wells can be shock-chlorinated with unscented 5–6% household bleach, sized by your well’s water depth and the gallons in your home’s plumbing.

Use plain, unscented liquid household bleach: add 8 drops per gallon, stir, and wait 30 minutes before drinking.

For most hard, non-porous surfaces, mix up to 1 cup of regular household bleach per 1 gallon of water, then keep the surface wet for several minutes.

For 100 gallons of clear water, add about 1/4 cup of plain liquid bleach, mix well, then wait 30 minutes before drinking.

Use 1 tablespoon of regular, unscented liquid bleach per 1 gallon of water, soak dishes 2 minutes, then air-dry.

Most loads do best with 1/3–2/3 cup (80–165 mL) of liquid chlorine bleach, added through the washer’s bleach dispenser.

Spotting is light vaginal bleeding that shows as a few drops or streaks and doesn’t soak a pad or tampon.

Bleeding often peaks like a heavy period for several hours to 1 day, then eases over 1–2 weeks, with light spotting sometimes lasting up to 3 weeks.

Any bleeding with pain, heavy flow, clots, dizziness, or late-pregnancy bleeding needs urgent medical care.

For most full loads, measure 1/4–1/2 cup of liquid chlorine bleach, add it to the washer’s bleach dispenser, and let the machine dilute it.
