For a one-time shock chlorination, many private wells use 2 quarts of unscented 5–6% household bleach per 100 gallons of well water.

Most washers take 1/3–2/3 cup of chlorine bleach for a full whites load, added via the dispenser or diluted in water.

Most full loads do well with 1/4–1/2 cup of liquid chlorine bleach, added through the dispenser or during the wash-fill so it dilutes before fabrics soak.

A 1,000–5,000 ppm chlorine mix (5–25 Tbsp household bleach per gallon) can inactivate norovirus on hard surfaces when left wet for 5 minutes.

For hard surfaces, mix 5 tbsp bleach per gallon of water and keep the surface wet for 1 minute.

There’s no “safe” amount—risk rises when mold is active, spreading, and you’re breathing its spores day after day.

A bleach bath is only meant for a narrow, clinician-directed skin plan, using a measured dose of plain bleach in a full tub for a short soak, then a rinse.

Most loads need 1/3–1/2 cup of regular liquid bleach, measured into the washer’s bleach dispenser so it releases at the right time.
